Hawzah News Agency- The delegation, led by Sheikh Ammar Hilali, Head of the Department of Islamic and Human Sciences Affairs at the Al-Abbas (PBUH) Holy Shrine, held a joint meeting with directors and senior researchers at the Institute. The session focused on enhancing cooperation in research, heritage preservation, and academic exchange.
During the meeting, officials from several research departments at the Institute presented detailed reports on their ongoing projects, scientific capabilities, and strategic research priorities. They also outlined potential areas for bilateral cooperation, including manuscript preservation, joint publications, and participation in international scholarly events.
Sheikh Hilali expressed appreciation for the warm reception, emphasizing the depth of Iran’s scientific tradition and the importance of strengthening ties between Iraqi and Iranian Islamic centers. He stated that one of the key objectives of his visit to the Islamic Republic is to encourage Iranian scholars and academic institutions to take part in two major upcoming events organized by the Holy Shrine: the “Karbala Scientific Heritage Congress in the 12th Century” and the “Basra Scientific Heritage Congress.” These congresses are scheduled to take place in the cities of Karbala and Basra, respectively, with the aim of reviving and showcasing the intellectual legacy of the Islamic world.
The Iraqi delegation also highlighted its commitment to building what Sheikh Hilali described as a “sustainable bridge of communication” between the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine’s Educational Center and Iran’s leading scientific institutions, particularly the Research Institute for Islamic Sciences and Culture affiliated with the Islamic Propaganda Office of the Qom Seminary.
Sheikh Hilali underscored that the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine’s Educational Center is fully prepared to engage in wide-ranging academic collaboration. This includes joint heritage revival projects, scholarly exchanges, the publication of Islamic sciences journals, and expanded participation in regional and international scientific congresses.
The visit marks a further step in ongoing efforts to deepen Iran–Iraq academic cooperation, particularly in the fields of Islamic heritage, research, and religious scholarship.
