Hawzah News Agency- Major General Qais al-Mohammadawy, head of the Supreme Electoral Security Committee, told reporters that the special vote was conducted in a calm and orderly atmosphere, with no violations or security incidents reported. He described the current electoral process as Iraq’s “best experience in recent years” in terms of security management, technology, and administrative performance.
Al-Mohammadawy emphasized that security forces carried out their duties with full professionalism and complete neutrality, ensuring that polling stations remained secure throughout the day. He highlighted that the elections proceeded without street closures, airport shutdowns, or disruptions to public movement—an indication, he said, of the discipline and sense of responsibility demonstrated by the country’s military and security personnel.
Secure Transfer of Results
The head of the Election Security Committee noted the Joint Operations Command’s central role in safeguarding polling centers and overseeing the secure transfer of memory cards containing special vote results in coordination with the Independent High Electoral Commission. Initial results, he added, will be shared with political parties, while final results will be announced in tandem with the general vote.
Al-Mohammadawy also confirmed the deployment of army helicopters to transport ballot data from the general vote to the national processing center, a measure taken to ensure maximum confidentiality and accuracy. The Iraqi Air Force has additionally been tasked with delivering logistical equipment to various urban areas.
Clarification on Missing Names
Addressing complaints from personnel whose names did not appear on the special voters list, he explained that the issue primarily concerns new recruits, contract workers, or individuals who did not update their personal information. These individuals, he said, remain eligible to cast their ballots during the general vote.
Concluding his remarks, al-Mohammadawy praised the performance of Iraq’s security forces, calling their role in this phase “the best across all previous electoral cycles.” He underscored that these forces “protect the country, the constitution, and the people with national spirit and unwavering commitment.”
