Hawzah News Agency- Shaykh al-Saduq narrated from his father, from Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Attar, from Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yahya ibn Imran al-Ash’ari, from Abu Abdullah al-Razi, from Ali ibn Suleiman ibn Rashid, from Musa ibn Salam that Aban ibn Savid asked Imam Sadiq (pbuh):
ما الذي يثبت الايمان في العبد؟
قال: الذي يثبته فيه الورع، والذي يخرجه منه الطمع
What keeps faith firm within a person?
[Imam] replied: “It is piety (wara') that makes it steadfast, and greed (ṭamaʿ) that drives it out.”
