Hawzah News Agency- Jaturon Phakdeewanich, Director-General of Thailand’s Department of Tourism, emphasized the significant growth of Muslim tourists worldwide, noting: “Muslim travelers represent a fast-growing segment that has a profound impact on the global tourism economy''.
Statistics from the Tourism and Sports Economics Division of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports reveal that since the beginning of this year, more than three million Malaysian visitors have entered Thailand, placing them among the top three groups of foreign tourists—a clear indication of Thailand’s increasing popularity among Muslim travelers.
Phakdeewanich further stated: “Thailand enjoys full readiness with its diverse attractions, service standards, and welcoming hospitality. Developing the capacities of personnel to properly understand and meet the needs of Muslim tourists will be a key factor in building confidence and enhancing the competitiveness of Thailand’s tourism industry on the global stage''.
The department will conduct four training sessions targeting at least 600 participants across Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Krabi, and Pattani provinces. The training program will focus on helping tourism operators and staff gain knowledge and skills to provide services aligned with Muslim lifestyles and beliefs, while maintaining standards of safety, cleanliness, fairness, and sustainability .
The Director-General expressed confidence that the initiative will elevate service standards among tourism operators, enabling them to provide high-quality services to Muslim tourists.
