Indian Cleric: Prophet Muhammad Is a Timeless Model of Justice, Courage, and Simple Living

QOM – On the occasion of the 28th of Safar, marking the passing of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Indian scholar and missionary Hojatoleslam Syed Ali Hashim Abedi emphasized the Prophet’s enduring role as a perfect role model for humanity.

In an interview with Hawzah News Agency, Abedi described the Prophet as “a unique model and a practical example for everyone,” highlighting his courage, adherence to divine justice, simple lifestyle, and ethic of forgiveness as qualities that could transform today’s Islamic society into a truly Muhammadan model.

Citing the Qur’anic verse “Indeed, you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example for him who hopes in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much” (Al-Ahzab: 21), Abedi stressed that true happiness and success for Muslims lies in following the character and conduct of the Prophet (PBUH).

He noted that the Prophet’s courage in expressing his beliefs without fear was among his most outstanding traits. As an example, he recalled when the polytheists suggested a compromise in worship between their gods and Allah. The Prophet (PBUH) firmly rejected the proposal, declaring his unwavering devotion to the Oneness of God.

Addressing the Prophet’s commitment to justice, Abedi pointed to the conquest of Mecca, where the Prophet upheld divine law without distinction of status or wealth. “The Prophet never neglected or compromised in the implementation of divine laws,” he said, underlining the importance of justice for contemporary societies.

Abedi also highlighted the Prophet’s simplicity, recalling how he chose a modest life over worldly luxury. “The world is transient; true peace is in the hereafter,” the Prophet said when questioned about his simple way of living. According to Abedi, this example teaches Muslims the value of humility and contentment.

Equally important, he added, was the Prophet’s ethic of forgiveness. “The conquest of Mecca demonstrated the Prophet’s magnanimity, as he pardoned even his staunchest enemies,” Abedi said. “This forgiveness should remain at the heart of our ethics and social conduct.”

Concluding, Abedi called on Muslims to embody these qualities—fearlessness in faith, justice, simplicity, and forgiveness—to establish societies rooted in the Prophet’s teachings. “If we take the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as our practical model, we can build a society that reflects justice, peace, and happiness,” he said.
