Hawzah News Agency- The event featured a keynote address by Hojjatoleslam Alamzadeh Nouri, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, who reflected on the transformative spiritual power of the Arbaeen pilgrimage and its unique place in human history.
The session began with introductory remarks and questions from Hojjatoleslam Iraqi, who moderated the discussion. In his speech, Hojjatoleslam Nouri emphasized the importance of human connection to the metaphysical realm—the “world of meaning”—stating that this connection is just as essential to human existence as material needs.
He described Arbaeen as a deeply spiritual phenomenon that defies material explanation:
“Arbaeen is not something that can be analyzed using worldly metrics. It is a spiritual movement, a miracle that reoccurs before our eyes,” he said.
Calling Arbaeen “the most unique gathering in history,” Hojjatoleslam Nouri likened it to a miracle of Imam Hussein (AS) in the modern era. He noted that, much like the human body—an extraordinary creation that becomes mundane due to familiarity—people may overlook the miraculous nature of Arbaeen due to its annual recurrence.
“If we step back and observe it with fresh eyes,” he said, “we’ll see the miracle: millions gathering within days, organized without major disruption, and returning home peacefully. This alone is astonishing.”
He further highlighted how the Arbaeen pilgrimage strengthens human spirituality by embodying principles of self-sacrifice and detachment from worldly comforts.
“One of the defining features of Arbaeen is freedom from the pursuit of comfort,” he noted. “Out of love for Imam Hussein (AS), pilgrims willingly endure hardship—walking long distances, often in extreme conditions—because they are inspired by a higher, spiritual calling. This journey is a vivid expression of spiritual life.”
The event concluded with reflections on how spiritual gatherings like Arbaeen serve as a gateway to deeper connection with the divine, offering modern believers a tangible experience of faith that transcends materialism.
