President’s Chief of Staff Attends Ashura Mourning Ceremonies at Homes of Senior Qom Clerics

Qom – Mohsen Haji Mirzaei, Chief of Staff to the President of Iran, participated in mourning ceremonies commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) on the day of Tasu’a al-Husseini, held at the residences of prominent Shia religious authorities in the holy city of Qom.

Hawzah News Agency- Accompanied by Qom Governor Akbar Behnamjoo, Haji Mirzaei visited the homes of senior maraji’ (sources of emulation), including Grand Ayatollahs Nasser Makarem Shirazi, Hossein Nouri Hamedani, Jafar Sobhani, Shobeiri Zanjani, and Wahid Khorasani. He joined the mourners in paying tribute to the Master of Martyrs, Imam Aba Abdullah al-Hussein (AS), and expressed solidarity with the religious and mourning community.

These visits took place as part of the broader national commemoration of Tasu’a and Ashura, central days of mourning in the Islamic calendar that mark the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala.

According to the Deputy for Culture, Social Affairs, and Pilgrimage of the Qom Governorate, more than 2,000 mourning groups, mosques, tekyehs (religious halls), and home-based prayer circles are actively conducting ceremonies across Qom during this year’s Muharram period.

This year’s commemorations are marked by an even more profound public presence, coinciding with the funerals of Iranian martyrs killed during the recent 12-day war imposed by the Zionist regime. The people of Qom and other parts of the country, moved by their deep devotion to Imam Hussein (AS) and the fallen defenders of the nation, have participated in mourning rituals with increased fervor and unity.
