Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Ahmed Qablan, the distinguished Grand Jaafari Mufti and Shiite scholar of Lebanon, offered his condolences over death of Pope Francis and announced in a statement: "With all sincerity, we offer our condolences to all Christian brothers and followers of the heavenly religions of the world on the passing of Pope Francis."

He added, "Pope Francis played a key role in affirming the divine spirit and human values as an essential bond among people."

Sheikh Qablan further noted, "The Pope called for close proximity among religions as a basis for the voice of eternity. He condemned injustice, especially the injustice and oppression of the world's superpowers and corrupt governments that live with oppression, murder, war and crime.”

He concluded by saying, "This is a historic moment for the sanctity of man. There is nothing higher than the voice of eternity resounding with love, mercy, compassion, justice, and security for God's people.”
