Hawzah News Agency- Head of Iran’s Islamic Seminary Ayatollah Alireza Arafi has highlighted the importance and position of maintaining unity and the necessity of achieving a unified Islamic community in a meeting with Friday prayer imams and Sunni scholars in Iran’s Kurdistan province, which was held in the office of the director of the seminaries in Qom, and stated,” In my opinion, desirable scientific and intellectual centers are those whose doors are open to all Islamic sects, and we in the Al-Mustafa International University have done this important work that has no other example in the world.”
The Head of Iran’s seminaries further noted, "There are three sections in Al-Mustafa International University: The Shiite section, the Sunni section, and joint centers, and in all of these centers, the emphasis is on getting to know other religions and promote interfaith dialogue as well."
The Shia scholar also stated that unifying the Islamic community and strengthening the identity of Muslims is of great significance, and this is the main element, their essence and identity, and noted,” If this ultimate goal is to be achieved, there are conditions, one of which is the opening of the doors of Islamic sects to followers of other religions, and we have pursued this important matter seriously at Al-Mustafa University.”
Ayatollah Arafi emphasized that opening of the doors of scientific and intellectual centers is crucial for strengthening the identity of a united Islamic community and for dialogue on these issues.
At the beginning of this meeting, the Friday imams and Sunni scholars of Kurdistan Province expressed their views and opinions on the unity of the Islamic world.
