Muslims in Ethiopia celebrated the anniversary of the Prophet's (PBUH) birth with religious ceremonies across the country.

Hawzah News Agency- Ethiopian Muslims honored the anniversary of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth with various ceremonies nationwide.

In Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, thousands of Muslims gathered on Saturday evening at the Grand Anwar Mosque alongside religious leaders to celebrate the event.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also extended his best wishes to the people of Ethiopia in a message on Saturday night, marking the celebration of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) birth.

In his message, the Prime Minister stated that the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is an opportunity to reflect on our purpose in life. He added that it is a time to think about the mission for which he was sent and to contemplate his message, which has had a significant impact on the world.

Islam is the second-largest religion in Ethiopia by the number of followers, with an estimated 35 million Muslims in the country.

In Ethiopia, as in other Sunni-majority countries, the Prophet's (PBUH) birth is celebrated on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal.
