Egypt's Al-Azhar condemned the scenes of insulting Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) at the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Hawzah News Agency- Egypt’s Al-Azhar, the highest seat of Sunni Muslim learning, condemned Sunday the “insulting scenes” of Jesus Christ during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris.

During the ceremony on Friday, a live artistic tableau resembling Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" was presented, featuring a large table around which men dressed in women's clothing and exaggerated makeup were seated, alongside a transgender model.

The Al-Azhar condemned the scenes of insulting Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) at the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris and has warned about the "danger of abusing the occasion to normalize insulting religion and promote homosexuality and transsexualism."

In a statement, Al-Azhar condemned the scenes that took place at the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris which provoked widespread international anger; since it portrayed the noble character of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) in an insulting way and disrespected the high position of prophethood in a brutal and reckless manner to the feelings of believers in religions, morals and high human values.

Al-Azhar emphasized the permanent rejection of all attempts to insult any of God's prophets, stating,” Prophets and messengers are chosen by God and He gave them superiority over the rest of His creations so that they can convey the good message to the world.”

Al-Azhar warned the world about the danger of misusing global occasions to normalize insulting religion and promote destructive and shameful social disorders such as homosexuality and transsexualism.

Al-Azhar further stated,” We need unity to deal with this deviant movement whose goal is to eliminate religion and spread sexual deviations, which spreads health and moral diseases and imposes an animal lifestyle that is in conflict with healthy human nature.”
