The Vice President of Education of the Media Literacy Association of Iran stated,” Today we live in a world where there is practically no neutral media.”

Hawzah News Agency- Dr. Leila Vesali, in an interview with Hawzah News on Saturday, February 4 during which she pointed out that in recent months, the opposition and counter-revolutionary media have made extensive efforts to produce and republish fake news and lies about the Iranian society.

“First of all, in the discussion of media literacy, it should be noted that there’s no neutral media in the real meaning of the word; therefore, we should validate the documents and sources with the necessary accuracy and sensitivity in relation to the productions and content of the media.” She added.

She added,” On the other hand, we live in a situation where the source of many news in cyberspace is not known, and therefore we are witnessing a lot of false or so-called fake news.”

“There are many techniques to distinguish fake news from real news, one of which is to know that the media has never been and is not neutral, so we ourselves must check the reliability of their sources.” She went on.

At the end, she said,” Another important point is to be aware that republishing a news item does not necessarily mean its authenticity, and the number of visitors to a news item may be very high, but most of these visitors are robots that are used by the media network itself for validation of the news published and therefore it is important to know that the number of visitors has nothing to do with the reliability or authenticity of a news.”
