Hawzah News Agency (Birmingham, UK) - Aimen Yaqub, a Muslim professor at Birmingham University and a graduate of Al-Azhar University, Cairo, had an exclusive interview with Hawzah News in which he elaborated on reasons why people, especially the youth, are drawn to extremist thoughts and groups.

Dr Aimen Yaqub remarked, “The reason for people’s tendency to believe in extremist thoughts is the mental gap they feel when it comes to finding the truth of religion. The Islamic tribunes must never be empty of qualified Muslim scholars who can speak of the truth and attract people to Islam.”

Answering the question why there’s extremism in some Islamic and European countries, Dr Aimen said, “In fact, these extremist behaviors are caused by a gap in the Islamic world and this gap must be filled with something; If it is not filled with truth and religion, falsehood and corruption will take over.”

The Birmingham University lecturer added, “Today, they blame the youth for being drawn to radical beliefs, but the young people are not to blame; They are drawn to such extremist thoughts because they didn’t find anyone to guide them towards the truth of religion and Allah (swt).“

“The solution to this problem is that qualified and knowledgeable Muslim scholars reclaim the tribunes in mosques in order to inform people by promoting genuine Islamic thoughts.”

“The qualified lecturers and scholars must fill people’s minds with truth and divine teachings. They must lead public opinion towards the essence of Islamic civilization.” Dr Aimen concluded.
