Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Zakzaky made the remarks during a ceremony marking the birth anniversary of the Prophet of Mercy (PBUH), organized by the Resource Forum of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria. The event was held on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Addressing the gathering, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria emphasized the importance of Muslim unity and a return to the teachings of the Prophet of Mercy (PBUH), saying: "The Prophet brought a complete and comprehensive religion and built a society upon it; our duty is to follow it."
Referring to enemies' efforts to undermine the status of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he said they seek to tarnish the Prophet's character because they have realized that Muslims have accepted the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) as a symbol of their unity and solidarity.
Sheikh Zakzaky also warned against divisions and conflicts being created among Muslims, stating that disputes manufactured in the name of religion or ethnicity bring no benefit to the Islamic Ummah — they only serve the enemies who create them to advance their own interests.
He added that enemies, by creating conflict and insecurity, seek to divert people's attention from fundamental issues, while in these very conditions their wealth is plundered and people become increasingly trapped in poverty and division.
The leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria stressed that recognizing these enemy tactics, strengthening unity among Muslims, and returning to the authentic teachings of the Prophet of Mercy (PBUH) are among the most important ways to resolve the problems facing the Islamic Ummah.
The ceremony, held annually by the Resource Forum of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, was attended by various segments of the Muslim community, including prayer leaders, scholars, staff, and other members of society.
