Hawzah News Agency- Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Sistani’s fatwas regarding women sports:

Question 1: Can women take up different types of wrestling, and can they watch live uncovered parts of men’s bodies wrestling on television without enjoyment?

Grand Ayatollah Sistani: Anything which harms the human being is Haram, and according to Wajib (obligatory) precaution, a woman should not look at parts of the body of non-Mahram (stranger) man without enjoyment even on television, unless hands and legs or whatever which usually are not covered, are covered.

Question 2: Is there any problem with dancing as sport and for happiness with mother or sister?

Grand Ayatollah Sistani: According to Wajib precaution, it is not allowed.

Question 3: What is the ruling about ladies doing sport (with music) for the (sake of) healthy body?

Grand Ayatollah Sistani: There is no problem in doing sport, and if the music is for corrupt pleasure, listening to it, is not allowed.
