Hawzah News Agency- Maulavi Abdul Rauf Tawana, head of the Shahid Tawana Scientific-Cultural Center of Afghanistan, spoke at the Seventh International Conference on "The Reawakening of the Ummah of Muhammad (PBUH)," held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, organized by the Qademoun World Assembly. He emphasized that the Islamic world, in order to overcome its current crises, needs intellectual awakening, the revival of Islamic identity, unity, and a return to the authentic mission of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) more than ever before.
Referring to the place of the Prophet of Islam's (PBUH) mission in human history, he stated: The Prophetic mission was not merely the beginning of a prophet's message; it was the starting point of a great transformation in intellectual, moral, spiritual, and civilizational spheres — a transformation that guided humanity from ignorance, polytheism, tyranny, and discrimination toward faith, justice, knowledge, freedom, and human dignity. In his view, with the conclusion of prophethood, the responsibility for safeguarding the goals of this mission and continuing divine values fell upon the Islamic Ummah.
Maulavi Tawana described the concept of the "reawakening of the Ummah" not as the appearance of a new prophet, but as the renewed awakening of Muslims, the revival of faith and responsibility, the strengthening of the spirit of reform and unity, and the Ummah's return to its historical mission. Citing the verse "You are the best nation brought forth for humanity" (Quran 3:110), he emphasized that the Islamic Ummah bears responsibility for serving humanity, enjoining good, forbidding wrong, and safeguarding justice and human dignity.
He further drew a comparison between the ignorance of the pre-Islamic era and what he termed "modern ignorance," saying: The contemporary world, despite scientific and technological advances, still faces problems such as hegemony, colonialism, discrimination, warmongering, the destruction of moral values, and cultural and media domination over weaker nations. In his view, just as the Prophet's (PBUH) mission liberated human society from the darknesses of ignorance, the renewed awakening of the Islamic Ummah must also pave the way for confronting new forms of domination and dependence.
In another part of his remarks, Maulavi Abdul Rauf Tawana addressed the role of the Iranian nation in developments across the Islamic world and described the Iranian people's resistance against US pressures and aggression as a manifestation of Islamic awakening and self-confidence. He identified the people's presence on decisive stages, their standing against economic, political, military, and media pressures, and the support of Muslim nations for the Palestinian cause and the Resistance Front as signs of the vitality of the spirit of awakening and responsibility in the Islamic world.
According to him, the reawakening of the Ummah will be realized when nations move from passivity to responsibility, from fear to courage, from dispersion to solidarity, and from dependence to self-confidence and independence. In this framework, the experience of the Iranian nation can draw Muslims' attention to the Ummah's internal capacities and its potential role in regional and global developments.
The head of the Shahid Tawana Scientific-Cultural Center of Afghanistan enumerated a set of strategies for achieving this goal, including strengthening faith and certainty, returning the Quran and Sunnah to the center of individual and social life, cultivating aware and responsible individuals, expanding science and knowledge production, realizing Islamic unity, and defending the oppressed.
Citing the verse "And hold fast to the rope of Allah, all together, and do not become divided" (Quran 3:103), he emphasized the necessity of setting aside ethnic, racial, and sectarian prejudices and described unity as a fundamental prerequisite for restoring Islamic power and civilization. He also recalled the verse "And We have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds" (Quran 21:107), noting that Islam's universal mission calls Muslims to support the oppressed, defend justice, and safeguard human dignity.
In the final part of his remarks, Maulavi Tawana stated that the future of the Islamic world does not await the appearance of a new prophet or the revelation of a heavenly book, because with the mission of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the chain of prophethood has come to an end. Therefore, the path to the Ummah's salvation must be sought in the awakening of Muslims, a return to the Quran, Sunnah, and Ahl al-Bayt, the revival of knowledge and ethics, the strengthening of unity, and a sense of responsibility toward the fate of humanity.
In summarizing his views, he described the Iranian nation's resurgence and the solidarity of Muslims with the Palestinian cause and the Resistance Front as signs of the Islamic Ummah's capacity to restore its dignity and power, and emphasized that achieving a bright future for the Islamic world requires faith, awareness, knowledge, ethics, unity, and steadfastness. Citing the verse "If you support Allah, He will support you and make your feet firm" (Quran 47:7), he emphasized hope in divine assistance and the necessity of perseverance on the path of realizing Islamic goals.
