Over 3,000 journalists cover funeral of martyred leader in Iraq

Brigadier General Saad Maan, head of Iraq's Security Media Cell, has announced the completion of all preparations for the funeral procession of the martyred leader, Imam Khamenei, in the holy cities of Karbala and Najaf.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a joint press conference with Najaf Governor Youssef Kanawi, Brigadier General Saad Maan confirmed that all arrangements for the funeral of the martyred leader, Grand Ayatollah Imam Sayyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, in holy Karbala and Najaf have been finalized.

He noted that over 3,000 journalists participated in covering the event.

Emphasizing that no obstacles existed to prevent any figure or individual from attending the funeral, he pointed to the formation of a supreme committee to oversee the special plan for the ceremony.

An official reception ceremony was held at Najaf International Airport, attended by a high-ranking delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added.

The funeral route in Najaf, he detailed, begins at the al-Sadrain bridges and extends for six kilometers to the holy shrine of Imam Ali (PBUH), accompanied by 351 Hussaini mourning processions (Mawakib). Guest houses and the homes of Najaf residents also opened their doors to receive mourners along the route.

More than 600 Arab and foreign journalists and media activists, along with over 3,000 Iraqi, Arab, and foreign reporters, took part in covering the ceremony, he noted.

Maan stressed that a supreme committee and several sub-committees continue to oversee the implementation of preparations, reaffirming the completion of all measures related to the event.

The funeral route in holy Karbala spans 5.8 kilometers, while a total of 751 Hussaini mourning processions participated across both Najaf and Karbala, he said.

A total of 2,500 cameras and 23 live broadcast centers were tasked with media coverage of the funeral, while 150 ambulances were allocated under a health plan across the provinces of holy Najaf and holy Karbala, he added.
