Ghadir, Islam's Undisputed Truth and Pillar of Unity: Sheikh Zakzaky

The leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria has described the event of Ghadir Khumm and the Prophet's designation of Imam Ali (PBUH) as his successor as a central pillar of unity and a source of salvation for the Muslim Ummah.

Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqoub Zakzaky made the remarks during an address on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir in the capital Abuja, where a large gathering of devotees of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) and people from various states across Nigeria had assembled for the spiritual commemoration.

Ghadir, a great test for the Muslim Ummah

Opening his speech, Sheikh Zakzaky referred to the Day of Ghadir as one of the greatest and most significant days in the history of Islam. He stated that the Ghadir sermon represents the enduring and special testament of the Prophet of Mercy (PBUH), containing crucial directives regarding the future of leadership and guidance for the Islamic community.

Stressing that the appointment of Imam Ali (PBUH) and the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) as successors to the Messenger of God was a direct command from the Almighty, he asserted that the Holy Prophet delivered his testament, and adherence to it is incumbent upon all. Should anyone turn away from this command, they will be held accountable on the Day they meet their Lord. This, he said, is a great trial for the Ummah; just as the early generations of Muslims were tested, so too are we being tested today.

Clearer than sunlight; there is no doubt regarding the Hadith of Ghadir

Pointing to historical attempts to obscure the truth of Ghadir, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria declared that the matter of Ghadir is not something that can be hidden within Islam. Despite extensive efforts to cover up this truth, Ghadir remains as bright and manifest as the light of the sun.

He went on to emphasize that among all narrations within the Islamic tradition, no hadith has reached the level of tawatur—mass transmission—quite like the Hadith of Ghadir. It is a narration that enjoys consensus, trust, and acceptance across both Sunni and Shia sources, leaving no room for doubt or uncertainty whatsoever.

The deeply spiritual ceremony concluded with prayers for the establishment of peace, the alleviation of afflictions across the Muslim world, and the hastening of the reappearance of the Savior of humanity, Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his advent), to establish justice and restore the authentic, pristine teachings of Islam.
