Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at the "Ummat-e-Mab'as" media tent affiliated with the Hawzah News Agency's Center for Media and Cyberspace in Qom, Hojatoleslam Lakzaei elaborated on the religious, historical, and social dimensions of the people's massive presence on the scene, describing it as a sign of the nation's intellectual and spiritual maturity.
Ashura: an eternal lesson in timeliness
Referring to the tragic event of Ashura, he stated that one of the reasons for the people's magnificent turnout is the constant reminder of that historical truth: in Karbala, those who had invited Imam Hussein (PBUH) failed him at the critical moment, and that hesitation led to the great tragedy. The Shia community has learned from this experience that if the response is not timely, opportunities are lost forever.
Hojatoleslam Lakzaei added that the Iranian people, who consider themselves followers of Imam Hussein (PBUH), take to the field with this very outlook. In the words of Imam Khomeini, the people of today are even superior to the people of the early days of Islam—because despite not having seen the Prophet (PBUH) or the Imams (PBUT), they consciously and with insight choose the path of truth, whereas in early Islam some did not respond even while being in the presence of the Infallible Imams.
Bi'that: a continuous and social event
The head of the Islamic Sciences and Culture Research Institute posed the question, "Under what conditions does Bi'that (the prophetic mission) take place?" He explained that when a prophet is appointed, his mission is not merely to deliver a message, but to create that mission within the people themselves. When the people respond to the prophet, their motivations become divine, and they themselves become appointed and at that point, society rises to collective action.
He added that the same logic applies today. When the people respond to the call of truth, they enter into a movement of Bi'that, the fruits of which are cohesion, steadfastness, and readiness for jihad across various arenas.
A clear front in the battlefield
Citing a verse from Surah As-Saff, Lakzaei said the Holy Quran emphasizes organization and alignment. Today, the opportunity for jihad is available to all people, regardless of age or gender, and society has positioned itself in a clear, unified front.
He stressed that there is no middle ground today—one front belongs to the followers of truth, and the other to the camp of tyranny. Just as neutrality was meaningless in Karbala, today, when the forces of falsehood have allied to strike at a nation, indifference cannot be justified.
"Indifference is dishonorable"
The head of the Islamic Sciences and Culture Research Institute stated: "Just as being neutral in Karbala was dishonorable, today, when the tyrants and enemies have joined hands to destroy our country and have martyred our beloved Leader, our people, and our students, indifference is a mark of dishonor."
He emphasized that the same enemies have martyred tens of thousands in Gaza and continue to commit similar atrocities in Lebanon. They have no mercy whatsoever, and the only force that repels them and leads them to defeat is the presence of the people on the scene.
The people's role in deterring the enemy
The deputy for research at the Islamic Propagation Office of Qom noted that what has left the enemy bewildered is the continued and courageous presence of the people on the scene. The constant shifts in enemy positions indicate their failed calculations. Experience has shown that wherever the people have stood firm, the enemy has not dared to engage in an all-out war.
He added that history shows adversarial forces advance by instilling fear and terror, trampling all moral and human standards—but even these tactics lose their effectiveness against popular cohesion.
Hypocrisy: a perennial danger in Islamic history
Citing Verse 54 of Surah Al-Ma'idah, Lakzaei addressed the issue of hypocrisy in Islamic history. The verse states: "O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion – Allah will bring forth a people He loves and who love Him, humble to the believers, stern toward the disbelievers, striving in the cause of Allah and not fearing the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allah; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing and All-Knowing."
He said there have always been those who claim religious faith but, at critical junctures, join the enemy's camp. The Quran warns that if a group deviates from the path of truth, Allah will replace them with another people distinguished by courage, humility toward believers, and firmness against disbelievers.
Recalling a narration from the Prophet (PBUH) about this verse, he said the Prophet pointed to Salman al-Farsi when his companions asked for an example. Today, too, examples of this Quranic truth can be observed in contemporary events.
Resistance: the key to divine power
The head of the Islamic Sciences and Culture Research Institute noted the divine promises in the Holy Quran: Allah says that if Muslims possess patience, resistance, and resilience, even unfavorable ratios will shift in favor of the camp of truth. In the Battle of the Trench (Ahzab), victory came through divine succor—succor that was not visible to the people.
He concluded by stressing that whenever a society connects with Allah and preserves its cohesion, it connects to a power that is invincible. With the unity of the people and the leadership, ultimate victory belongs to the camp of truth, for no power can stand against the divine will.
