Yemen Backs Iran’s Hormuz Measures, Warns Against Escalation

Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced its position regarding the open discussion held by the UN Security Council on maritime security, stressing the legitimacy of Iran’s measures in the Strait of Hormuz and warning against further escalation by external actors.

Hawzah News Agency- In an official statement, the ministry affirmed the right of states to defend themselves and to restrict navigation within their territorial waters when facing security threats, emphasizing that Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz fall within this legitimate framework.

The ministry pointed out that the ongoing American-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with American piracy in the Gulf of Oman, has imposed heavy costs on the international community, causing disruptions in global supply chains, maritime navigation, transportation costs, and energy and food prices.

It stressed that the only real solution to the current tensions in the Strait of Hormuz lies in addressing the root cause — ending the US-Israeli aggression against Iran.

The statement also warned countries outside the region against taking steps that could further complicate the situation, damage supply chains, and deepen the global economic crisis, blaming the brutality of US President Donald Trump and his Zionist partners. It also renewed Yemen’s support for Pakistani mediation efforts aimed at ending the aggression against Iran.

In conclusion, the Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that Yemen is not neutral regarding the ongoing attacks on Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine, stressing that its position remains clear, declared, and unwavering.

Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Abdulwahid Abu Ras commented on remarks by the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council regarding the outcomes of the 19th consultative meeting of GCC leaders.

Abu Ras stated that restoring trust in the region requires Gulf regimes to take fundamental steps, foremost among them reconsidering the presence of American military bases on their territories, which he said have been used to target regional countries, most recently Iran.

He added that Gulf governments must realize that their true interests lie in ending their dependence on the US and its partner, the Israeli occupation entity.

He further stressed that Gulf states are also responsible for repairing relations with the peoples of the region, particularly in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran.

Abu Ras said that the resilience and victory of the Axis of Resistance in the recent confrontation would shape a new regional reality in favor of the entire region, urging Gulf governments to assess developments correctly and make decisions that serve their peoples.

He added that the United States, by the admission of Americans themselves, had failed in this battle and achieved none of its objectives, with results turning against its original plans.

Concluding his remarks, Abu Ras said the US is facing a strategic dilemma and warned against attempts by some regimes to rescue it, reaffirming that Yemen will remain firmly committed to its principled, humanitarian, religious, and moral stance in support of Palestine as the central cause of the nation and within the collective responsibility of the axis of jihad, Al-Quds, and the resistance.

Regional tensions remain high following a fragile ceasefire between the United States with he Israeli enemy and Iran. The Strait of Hormuz has become a key flashpoint due to its critical role in global oil transit.

Diplomatic efforts have stalled despite mediation attempts, while the US maintains its maritime blockade on Iran, which Tehran says must end before any talks resume.
