Iran Warns: Closure of Strait of Hormuz a 'Legitimate Tool' to Make Enemies Suffer

Hojatoleslam Ostovar Meimandi, emphasizing that enemies only understand the "language of force," described the closure of the Strait of Hormuz as a legitimate tool for applying economic pressure on Western capitals, asserting that the time has come for enemies to taste a fraction of the inflation resulting from their crimes.

Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Mohammad Ostovar Meimandi, Secretary of the Hybrid Warfare Base of Balagh Mobin of Seminaries, in an interview with Hawzah News Agency, elaborated on the Quranic and empirical foundations of the Islamic state's interaction with non-Muslim governments, stressing that the only sustainable strategy against enemies is the strengthening of internal power and reliance on indigenous capabilities.

The director of the Seminary's Office of Social and Political Affairs, referring to the opening verses of Surah Al-Mumtahanah, divided non-Muslim governments into two categories: hostile and non-hostile. He stated that concerning non-hostile governments that do not act against the Islamic Ummah and do not engage in conspiracy, there is no issue in maintaining political, economic, and other relations. However, regarding hostile governments that endanger the Islamic entity and seek to strike religious norms and Islamic sovereignty, God Almighty has explicitly stated in numerous verses (such as verse 51 of Surah Al-Ma'idah) not to rely on them or take them as allies.

History of Breach of Covenant; From America to European Countries

The Secretary of the Balagh Mobin Base of Seminaries, emphasizing the general rule of avoiding reliance on infidel governments, referred to the country's empirical experiences in dealing with Western governments. He added that the covenant-breaking US government has engaged in numerous instances of negotiation with us since the beginning of the revolution, in all of which we have witnessed American breaches of covenant. This record is not limited to America; countries like France, Germany, and Britain also have a history of violating agreements in their track record. The US withdrawal from the JCPOA and the European side's failure to fulfill their commitments afterward, as well as the activation of the snapback mechanism, are clear examples of this breach of covenant.

Stating that this breach of covenant is a characteristic of polytheists and the Jews and should not be regarded as a new phenomenon, he also pointed to the history of breaches by the Zionist regime. He said that the Zionist regime, inherently covenant-breaking, attacked us during recent events in the midst of negotiations with the cooperation of the United States, and we witnessed a repetition of this act in the recent war. Therefore, based on experience, there is no trust in them, and they only understand the language of force.

Strengthening Internal Power; Quranic Strategy Against Enemies

Citing the verse "And prepare against them whatever you are able of power" (Surah Al-Anfal 60), in which God commands the acquisition of power against enemies, Hojatoleslam Ostovar Meimandi stated that this is the solution the Holy Quran has presented in facing enemies and hostile governments; we must make ourselves strong. When we become strong, the possibility of gaining leverage in negotiations is provided, and even upon reaching sufficient power, there may be no need for negotiation, and the enemy will retreat on its own.

He added that today, negotiation is not being proposed by the Islamic Republic, and even if the enemy proposes it, it will not be accepted unless revenge for the blood of the martyrs, foremost among them the great leader [General Soleimani], is taken, and two practical and real guarantees—not verbal or on paper—are obtained, ensuring the stable security of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a guaranteed commitment that the enemy will not dare to attack the skies and borders of this land again.

Closure of Strait of Hormuz; Economic Pressure Tool on Enemy

The Secretary of the Balagh Mobin Base of Seminaries, referring to the necessity of avenging the blood of the martyrs and punishing the criminal regime, stated that America no longer has a place in this region and must return to its own country. There should be no connection between the United States and the countries of the region.

Regarding the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, he proposed it as a tool for exerting pressure on the enemy, aligned with the directives of the Supreme Leader, and said: "An enemy that pressures us from all directions with economic sanctions, creating social insecurities, military attack, and cultural aggression—closing the Strait of Hormuz is the least the Islamic Republic can do economically to put pressure on the enemies. Although this is one of the solutions for exerting pressure, other solutions are also on the agenda for study."

In conclusion, Hojatoleslam Ostovar Meimandi, pointing to the inflation resulting from the enemy's oppressive sanctions, noted: "Due to the enemy's oppressive sanctions, we have experienced 100 to 150 percent inflation in some goods. If European countries experience 40 percent inflation due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, it still has a long way to go compared to the blows inflicted on our dear people. Therefore, it is not bad for them to taste a fraction of the economic pressure and experience the taste of the crimes they commit."
