'Chaotic Retreat': Resistance Leader Says 70,000 Americans Forced to Flee West Asia

The secretary-general of Iraq's Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada resistance group has described the departure of tens of thousands of American forces from West Asia as a "chaotic retreat resembling a rout," signaling what he calls the rising costs of occupation and the entry of the Islamic Resistance into a new phase of qualitative operations.

Hawzah News Agency- Abu Alaa al-Walaei made the remarks in a post on the X social platform, commenting on the withdrawal of approximately 70,000 American military personnel and civilians from the region.

'Hasty Withdrawal' Under Pressure

Al-Walaei characterized the exodus as a direct consequence of what he termed "America's ill-advised adventurism in the region," noting that the withdrawal follows military protocols described as "redeployment toward the nearest airport" – a euphemism for hasty retreat under pressure.

The resistance leader emphasized that those leaving include military forces, contractors, and American civilians who had been present across various West Asian theaters.

Psychological Blow to Occupiers

According to al-Walaei, this accelerated departure will leave "heavy memories" for the Americans involved, comparable to the psychological trauma experienced by occupation soldiers following the 2003 US invasion of Iraq.

"Many of them will grapple with psychological consequences for years to come," he stated, drawing parallels to the lasting mental health impacts witnessed among veterans of the Iraq war.

Cost of Exit Now Exceeds Cost of Entry

"If entering West Asia was once easy for America, exiting it has now become extremely costly, especially in the second phase of the Islamic Resistance's operations," al-Walaei asserted.

He described this second phase as having "qualitative objectives" that represent a transition of the battle to a new level of pressure and deterrence against occupying forces.

Growing Costs of Occupation

The Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada leader concluded that under current conditions, "the presence and stay of occupation forces in the region will become more costly for them every day."

The remarks reflect the resistance axis's assessment that sustained military pressure is forcing changes in US force posture across the region, with implications for America's long-term military footprint in West Asia.
