Global Scholars, Resistance Figures Vow to Defend Palestine at al-Quds Congress

The Seventh International al-Quds Congress convened virtually, bringing together a distinguished assembly of senior clerics, lawmakers, academics, and activists from across the Muslim world and beyond to reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the liberation of Palestine and the holy city of al-Quds.

Hawzah News Agency- Organized under the banner of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (PBUT) World Assembly, the congress featured speeches from prominent religious and political figures representing key nations within the Axis of Resistance, including Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Turkey, Pakistan, and Russia, as well as international advocates from Canada, Brazil, and Mexico.

The virtual gathering opened with a powerful address by Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, the Director of Iran's Seminaries, who emphasized the religious duty of all Muslims to support the Palestinian cause. He was followed by Sheikh Khalid al-Mulla, head of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq, who underscored that the liberation of al-Quds remains the central unifying objective for the Islamic Ummah.

Sheikh Maher Hammoud, President of the Union of Resistance Scholars in Lebanon, delivered a rousing speech declaring that the ongoing resistance against the Israeli occupation is a continuation of the prophetic mission. He was joined by Sheikh Zuhair Ja'id, head of the Islamic Action Front in Lebanon, and Sheikh Hussein Qassim, President of the Palestinian Scholars Council, who provided on-the-ground perspectives on the unity and resilience of the Palestinian people in the face of occupation and aggression.

Representing Russia's Muslim community, Mufti Kafah Battu conveyed a message of solidarity, while Dr. Azmi Abdul Hamid, head of Islamic Organizations in Malaysia, highlighted the growing international isolation of the Israeli regime.

The congress also featured significant political representation. Sharafuddin Kilich, a member of the Turkish Parliament, and Iraqi Parliamentarians Dr. Mustafa Sanaad and Dr. Noor Adel all spoke, condemning normalization efforts and calling for concrete action from Muslim governments to sever ties with the Zionist entity. Professor Iqbal Korpinarhan, a Turkish academic and activist with the 'Ship of al-Sumud' (Resilience) movement, detailed grassroots efforts to challenge the naval siege on Gaza.

International voices of conscience were powerfully represented by Canadian academic Dr. Charlotte Kates, a member of the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, who spoke on the global struggle to silence pro-Palestinian voices in Western academic institutions. Dr. Masoud Shajareh, head of the London-based Islamic Human Rights Commission, detailed the legal and advocacy efforts to hold Israeli war criminals accountable under international law.

From the field of Palestinian resistance, freed Palestinian prisoner Maryam Abu Daqqa, a member of the Palestinian Popular Resistance Committees, shared her firsthand experience of occupation and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people. Indian activist Tushar Gandhi, descendant of Mahatma Gandhi, drew parallels between the struggles against colonialism and apartheid, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

The global reach of the congress was further underscored by contributions from Dr. Khalid Saadi, a member of the A'idoon Front and the Palestinian Popular Liberation Front in Sweden, and Dr. Abdul Hafeez al-Sriti, Secretary of the National Action Forum for Palestine in Morocco. Brazilian journalist and activist Dr. Bruno Richa and Mexican university professor Moises Garcia highlighted the growing Latin American solidarity movement.

The congress also featured addresses by Turkish academic and al-Sumud activist Dr. Reda Chiklar Oglu, al-Mayadeen correspondent Zainab al-Saffar from Lebanon, Dr. Saber Abu Maryam, head of the Palestine Foundation in Pakistan, and Dr. Ahmed Wihman, head of the Moroccan Observatory for Combating Normalization.

Hojatoleslam Rasoul Baqeri, Secretary-General of the Qademoun International Forum, served as the moderator for the event, guiding discussions that focused on practical steps to unify global efforts in support of Palestine.

The Seventh International al-Quds Congress concluded with a unified declaration reaffirming that the liberation of al-Quds remains a paramount objective for the Islamic Ummah and all free peoples of the world. Participants pledged to intensify efforts to break the siege on Gaza, expose normalization schemes, and support the Palestinian resistance in all forms until the complete liberation of the holy land.
