Pakistani Shia Leader: ‘Gaza Peace Delegation’ Is Cover for Greater Israel Project, Warns of Regional Destabilization

The head of Pakistan’s Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) has strongly criticized a proposed Gaza-related peace initiative linked to US President Donald Trump, describing it as a strategic cover for advancing what he called a “Greater Israel” agenda and weakening regional resistance forces.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a scholarly conference in Islamabad titled “Gaza Peace Delegation: A Plot for Greater Israel,” Senator Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, who also serves as the opposition leader in Pakistan’s Senate, said initiatives presented under the banner of peace for Gaza are, in his view, designed to reshape the geopolitical balance of West Asia.

According to Jafri, such plans ultimately aim to undermine Iran and resistance movements across the region while fueling wider instability throughout Asia. He argued that no “conscientious and humanitarian-minded scholar” should lend support to projects that, as he claimed, serve hidden strategic objectives rather than genuine peace.

He further warned that external pressure or military action against Iran would fail, pointing to the country’s experience during and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Jafri said that despite war, sanctions, and security threats over decades, Iran has maintained its political system and expanded its scientific and defense capabilities.

Referring to Iran’s leadership, he described Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as a leading defense strategist, claiming that the country’s deterrent capacity has significantly grown despite prolonged sanctions.

The Pakistani senator also addressed his country’s domestic and foreign policy direction, saying Pakistan faces a decisive moment in determining whether its national decisions are made independently or under foreign influence. He stressed that neutrality is becoming increasingly difficult amid escalating regional tensions.

Jafri concluded by calling for strengthened rule of law, justice, and equality inside Pakistan, saying sustainable national stability depends on internal reform as well as an independent foreign policy posture.
