Indian Scholar: Imam Hassan Askari’s (AS) Life a Model for Guidance in Hardship

On the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hassan Askari (AS), prominent Indian cleric Hojatoleslam Imam Khan underlined the enduring relevance of the Imam’s scientific, moral and political legacy as a guide for Muslims in times of difficulty.

Speaking to Hawzah News Agency, Khan said Imam Hassan Askari (AS), despite living under strict surveillance by the Abbasid rulers, succeeded in preserving the unity of the Shia community through his teachings, letters and representatives. He trained outstanding students in Quranic sciences, theology and ethics, leaving behind a rich legacy of knowledge and guidance.

He noted that the Imam (AS) established a systematic network of deputies to communicate with his followers, a structure that later laid the foundation for the Minor Occultation. Through this network, the Imam urged steadfastness in religion, adherence to scholars, and the presentation of Islam’s true image through moral conduct.

Khan emphasized that Imam Hassan Askari (AS) repeatedly reminded his companions about the divine proof in the world and the eventual reappearance of Imam Mahdi (AS), assuring them that despite challenges during the period of occultation, divine justice would ultimately prevail.

Addressing the younger generation, the Indian cleric called on youth to regard the life of Imam Hassan Askari (AS) not as a mere historical account, but as a practical guide for strengthening faith, resisting intellectual and moral deviation, and promoting justice in society.

He concluded that studying the life and teachings of Imam Hassan Askari (AS) is essential not only for personal spiritual growth but also for building a just society based on the principles of true Islam.
