Lucknow, India – In a heartfelt address during a Muharram mourning gathering, Hujjat-ul-Islam Sayyid Ali Hashim Abedi emphasized the role of Hazrat Abbas (AS) as a timeless symbol of servitude, loyalty, and resistance to humiliation. Speaking at the Husayniyya of Hazrat Umm al-Banin (AS) in Lucknow, he declared:
“A true servant of God never submits to humiliation and protects the path of loyalty to guardianship with his life.”
The Light of Guidance and the Ship of Salvation
Citing the famous hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), “Verily, Hussain is the lamp of guidance and the ship of salvation,” Hujjat-ul-Islam Abedi stressed that the guidance of Imam Hussein (AS) is a safeguard against misguidance.
“Whoever aligns with Imam Hussein (AS) will never go astray,” he said, “and those who turn away from him will lose the path of truth — for his sacred existence is a beacon of salvation for all humanity.”
Hazrat Abbas (AS): The Righteous Servant of God
Describing Hazrat Abbas (AS) as a “pure and righteous servant of God,” Abedi highlighted his unwavering devotion to divine servitude and his loyalty to Imam Hussein (AS) until the last breath.
“Every moment of Hazrat Abbas’s life was spent in obedience and servitude to God,” he said. “He stood beside the Imam with unshakable faith and resolve.”
Obedience to the Ahlul Bayt (AS)
Quoting from the Ziyara (pilgrimage text) of Hazrat Abbas (AS), the cleric noted that the infallible Imams described him as obedient to God, the Prophet, Imam Ali, Imam Hassan, and Imam Hussein (PBUT).
“He was completely loyal to the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT) and feared no one in defending the truth,” Abedi said.
Rejecting the Letter of Guarantee from the Enemy
Referring to the historical moment when Shimr, the enemy commander, offered a letter of protection to Hazrat Abbas and his brothers, Abedi recounted:
“Hazrat Abbas, like Imam Hussein (AS), rejected this false guarantee and refused to abandon his Imam. His message to the world was clear: a true servant of God does not trade honor for safety nor submit to the arrogant.”
Martyrdom over Disgrace
In his closing remarks, Abedi emphasized that sacrificing one’s life for truth is the ultimate sign of sincere devotion:
“A pure servant of God gives his life for justice but never sells his dignity for falsehood. Hazrat Abbas (AS) remains an eternal example of this divine servitude and courage.”
