Hawzah News Agency- In an official statement, Morteza Karamuzian, head of the organization, said:
“During this imposed war, nine dedicated members of the Iranian media were martyred in brutal strikes deliberately targeting press personnel and facilities.”
Among the victims were two national media employees — Masoumeh Azimi and Nima Rajabpour — who lost their lives in a direct strike on the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation's glass building.
Karamuzian also named other martyrs from across the country's media landscape, including:
- Fereshteh Bagheri – Holy Defense News Agency
- Ehsan Zakeri – IQNA News Agency and Holy Defense
- Ali Tahmasebi, Moein Nazari, and Ramadan Ali Choobdari – affiliated with Basij Public Relations and Basij News Media (Choobdari also served as PR head for the Imam Hassan Mojtaba Guard in Alborz Province)
- Amir Hossein Tavousi – Director of Roshana Channel and a prominent cultural activist
- Mohammad Javad Alwandi – Bayan Media Foundation
“These individuals were not just journalists,” Karamuzian emphasized. “They were on the frontlines of the Jihad of Explanation, bravely defending truth against the enemy’s false narrative. Their blood will continue to light the path for future generations of media activists.”
He further revealed that over 10 other media personnel were injured during the conflict, and treatment for them is ongoing.
Highlighting the legal implications, Karamuzian stated:
“According to Article 8(2) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, targeting journalists constitutes a war crime. These attacks also violate the Fourth Geneva Convention and Article 52 of its First Additional Protocol, both of which guarantee the protection of civilian media personnel and facilities.”
Calling on the global community, he concluded:
“This anti-media crime must not be buried in silence. The Media Mobilization Organization, in cooperation with relevant authorities, will pursue legal and international action to hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure justice is served.”
