Bayn al-Haramayn’s Lights Turn Red

The green lights of Bayn al-Haramayn turned red, marking the arrival of the month of Muharram. Bayn al-Haramayn refers to the area that lies between the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and the al-Abbas holy Shrine, holding deep religious significance for Shia Muslims. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It is also a month of mourning for Shia Muslims, who commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (PBUH) and his companions at the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.
