Hawzah News Agency - Pezeshkian made the remarks early on Saturday during a ceremony to commemorate the Laylat al-Qadr or the Night of Qadr at the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, near the capital, Tehran.
The Night of Qadr, also referred to as the Night of Power or Night of Destiny, marks the night when the holy Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), and is believed to have taken place most probably on the 19th, 21th, 23th, and 27th nights of the fasting month of Ramadan. During Nights of Qadr, Muslims stay awake and pray. Also, the 21th night coincides with the martyrdom anniversary of the first Shia imam, Imam Ali (AS).
During his speech at the 21th night of Ramadan, President Pezeshkian emphasized that justice is one of the fundamental principles of Islam, noting that Imam Ali (AS) highlighted the importance of piety in his words and deeds.
Pezeshkian urged people to heed Islamic teachings in their daily lives, calling for a focus on religious principles including piety, justice, and the fight against oppression.
He also underscored the significance of empathy and cooperation between the public and officials, stating that “we all share the responsibility of promoting justice and ethics” in society and helping to build a community filled with peace and tranquility.
Emphasizing the need for a change in behavior and views in order to create a better future for the country, Pezeshkian asserted that all challenges will be overcome through empathy and collaboration.
“When we recognize ourselves and understand our true value, no one will be superior to us. We Muslims are not inferior to anyone. However, to realize this, we must strive and pursue our goals,” the president said.
