Hawzah News Agency- Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpaygani, in a statement, while underscoring the importance of and need for the proclamation of Ghadir by the Prophet, considering the social circumstances of that time, offered recommendations to the youth and followers of Imam Ali (PBUH) in the direction of spreading the message of Ghadir and celebrating this auspicious occasion.
The following are some portions of the statement written by this Shia source of emulation:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Brothers and Sisters in Faith,
O Apostle! Communicate that which has been sent down to you from your Lord, and if you do not, you will not have communicated His message, and Allah shall protect you from the people. Indeed Allah does not guide the faithless lot. (5:67)
By Reflecting on this verse, the meanings of its sentences, and the time and period of its revelation, it becomes clear that what the Prophet was commanded to preach on behalf of God was nothing other than the important matter of guardianship (Wilayah), the system of Imamate, politics, governance, and the administration of the Ummah.
From the phrase (and if you do not, you will not have communicated His message), the high importance and value of the subject that the Prophet was commanded to preach becomes clear, because by the time of revelation of this verse, monotheistic issues, the foundations of faith, and important religious, financial, judicial and social orders of God and jihad against disbelievers, and abandoning ingrained bad habits had already been preached.
Accordingly, this subject was so stressed that if the Prophet had not communicated, all his preaching during the long period of the Meccan and Medinan eras would have been nothing.
The intent is that with a brief understanding and awareness of the conditions of that era and close attention to the words and phrases of this verse, it becomes clear that the message that the Prophet was commanded to preach was the guardianship (Wilayah) of Ali ibn Abi Talib.
In order to announce this message, the Prophet ordered everyone to halt at Ghadir Khumm, the place in which the Hajj pilgrims return to their homelands, and also ordered those who had gone ahead to come back and wait for those who had not yet arrived.
Then, in that grand assembly, which had never occurred before, the Prophet appointed Ali ibn Abi Talib to the position of guardianship.
This senior Shia cleric also offered the youth a few recommendations, which its round-up is mentioned below:
· Do not forget your glorious past; What pure blood and selfless young people you have sacrificed and offered for the sake of God and religion
· Adhere to Islamic customs and traditions
· Preserve Islamic independence and identity
· Spread Islamic civilization
· Be vigilant against the enemy's attempts to erode Islam
· Avoid reverting to pre-Islamic ignorance and embracing the ignorance of the future
· Make Imam Ali (PBUH) your role model
· Follow the school of Imam Ali and Lady Fatima (PBUT).
