Hawzah News Agency- Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, wrote a letter to the Security Council regarding the accusations of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran regarding the Red Sea.
This letter was prepared following the recent public meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in the Red Sea, which was held on January 3, 2024 under the agenda of "maintaining international peace and security". It is stated in the mentioned letter: In the said meeting, representatives of the United States and the Israeli regime once again made baseless accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran by abusing the podium of the Security Council and published false information and deliberate misinformation.
It is stated in this letter: The Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects the baseless claims made in this meeting. These accusations are unprovable and unsubstantiated. The Islamic Republic of Iran has always attached great importance to maritime security and freedom of navigation and emphasizes its unwavering commitment to adhere to its international obligations and maintain peace and security in the region.
In this letter, the Iranian ambassador stated that the goal of the US and the Israeli regime in making such baseless accusations is clear, explaining these goals: diverting international attention from the root causes of the current situation in the Red Sea; Genocide and brutal massacre of the Israeli regime with the full support of the United States against the innocent Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank; And also their participation in coordinated military aggression and malicious activities against other countries in the region.
Iran's ambassador to the United Nations has stated in this letter: The Islamic Republic of Iran, warning against any provocative or irresponsible actions of the United States that may endanger the peace and security of the region, asks the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities to deal with the causes of the current situation of the Red Sea. In this regard, the Security Council must take decisive measures to force the Israeli regime to stop the bloodshed, stop its aggressive actions, and firmly adhere to its international obligations under humanitarian and human rights laws. In addition, the Security Council must force the usurper regime to fully implement resolutions 2712 and 2720; Resolutions calling for minimum requirements to facilitate and ensure the prompt, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people throughout the Gaza Strip.
