Hawzah News Agency –Israeli forces Monday detained 13 Palestinians, mostly in overnight raids across various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

They said that Israeli forces re-arrested a former prisoner, who is still pursuing his university studies at Birzeit University, from Birzeit town, north of Ramallah.

The soldiers also detained another Palestinian after ransacking his house in Dura al-Qar' town, north of Ramallah.

The military vehicles also stormed al-Bireh city neighborhood of Jabal Taweel, where the soldiers forcibly entered and searched a family house.

In Salfit district, the sources confirmed a raid in Kifl Haris town, west of the city, resulting in re-arresting a former prisoner.

In Jerusalem district, the soldiers showed up at two houses and detained two others from Abu Dis town, east of the city.

They conducted a similar raid in Qatanna town, northwest of Jerusalem, resulting in the detention of another.

In Hebron district, gun-toting soldiers rounded up two others from Beit Ummar town, north of the city, and ransacked their houses, turning them topsy-turvy.

They also detained four brothers from ad-Dhahiriya town, southwest of Hebron, and searched several houses, turning them upside down.

The sources confirmed that another Palestinian was rounded up from the southern West Bank city.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
