Shrine's grid

The department's staff are continuing with the grid manufacturing work that proceeds in two tracks.

Hawzah News Agency –The staffs of the department of manufacturing shrines' grids and doors at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine have finished manufacturing the metal parts of the shrines' grids of Lady Zaynab (peace be upon her) - the knotworks -.
The head of the department and the direct supervisor of the implementation of these works, Mr. Nadhem al-Ghurabi, told Al-Kafeel Network, that: "The department's staff are continuing with the grid manufacturing work that proceeds in two tracks. The first is the manufacture and installation of the wooden parts of the wooden structure from the inside and the outside, which has reached advanced stages, and the other path is the manufacture of the metal parts of the grid, and its steps have begun to proceed according to what was planned in design and implementation, as the manufacture of grids' knotworks has been completed.
He added: "The number of knotworks is (14) metal pieces, which surround the holy grid on all sides. Each knotwork piece consists of 132 complete balls of 122.5 g in weight, and each ball is (3 mm) thick. Each piece consists of 23 half-balls and 198 handles weighing (87 g) and of 6 mm thickness. Each "knotwork" is 143 cm high at its highest point and 80 cm wide at its widest point, as the knotwork takes the form of overlapping semi-arches."
Al-Ghurabi indicated that: "The balls and handles are made of stainless steel, surrounded by a decorative frame made of pure silver, and the most important feature of these parts is the manufacturing efficiency on the one hand, doubling their thickness and the quantities of metal used, which will give the grid longer life and more resistance face to all conditions."
He concluded that: "Working with the metal parts of the grid is distributed over many joints and according to each part and section, and upon completion of any of them, we start the process of fixing it on the wooden structure. And these works continue until the completion of the manufacture and installation of all the pieces, God willing."
It is noteworthy that the manufactured metal parts are characterized by their durability and increased thickness compared to the current grid, in addition to the inscriptions and decorations contained in each piece, as it was distinguished by the accuracy and beauty of its inscriptions, which combined and harmonized between the decorations found in the holy grid of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas and that in the shrine of his sister Lady Zaynab (peace be upon them).
