US pressing Iraqi negotiation team/Trump’s electoral gamble in Ain al-Alasad

Al-Nujaba Islamic Movement, issuing a nine-clause statement, strongly condemned the negotiations called the “American-Iraqi strategic talks”, reported al-Nujaba’s Centre for Communications and Media Affairs in Iran.

Hawzah News Agency (Tehran, Iran) - Al-Nujaba Movement, issuing a statement, defined the Iraqi team’s task as the facilitation of occupiers’ exit from Iraq and then stressed, “It is not accepted that the urgent execution of this act is postponed so that trump may exploit it as an achievement in his electoral campaign.”

Al-Nujaba Islamic Movement, issuing a nine-clause statement, strongly condemned the negotiations called the “American-Iraqi strategic talks”, reported al-Nujaba’s Centre for Communications and Media Affairs in Iran.

Al-Nujaba, mentioning that the contemporary Iraqi history is in its hardest and most critical stage, pointed out, “We have repeatedly announced that the governance, freedom and independence together formthe only way guaranteeing the Iraqi territorial sovereignty and leading to the unity, solidarity and the trust of all Iraqi people from all religions, ethnicities and faiths.”

The statement further mentions, “Approving of the presence of any foreign force here in the country and imposition of their decisions on Iraq will bear no fruit save struggles, enmity and seeking dominance over the Iraqi people by those factions connected to illegal forces.”

Al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance, using the above prelude, through nine clauses has dealt with some significant issues concerning what is called the “American-Iraqi strategic talks” as below:

1- The US alone has arranged the time-schedule and defined the discussed topics. These issues dealt with, many of which around the US status in Iraq, show this fact.

2- The expulsion of the American forces has beenpreviously discussed and this decision has been announced and confirmed thorough the demonstration participated by millions of Iraqi people. The Iraqi parliament also passed the law on the expulsion of foreign forces from the state; besides, the government has also formally communicated this law to the US. This law can’t be returned from and be negotiated once again.

3- In the talk about reviewing the deployment of foreign forces, the US attempts to impose an initiative for maintaining its image via imposing pressures on the Iraqi negotiators. It is against the general consensus; as the Iraqi team’s task, due to a formally announced decision, is to facilitate the exit of occupiers and all foreign forces. Thereby, it isn’t accepted that the execution of this law is postponed because of the pressures of the American side; The US is reluctant to leave Iraqand take its forces out in the current time and until a time close to the US election for it is going to exploit this act as an achievement for the criminal of the time, Trump.

4- We have warned that the Iraqi negotiators should be courageous and strong against the will of the US and what is dictated by foreigners; we announced that this team should be independent so that it can maintain the Iraqi sovereignty and stability, it is also supposed to pay no attention to the wants of the American side who has destroyed Iraq and made it suffer from corruption.

Accordingly, it's our recommendation that this team should be composed of some known parliamentary, media or civil characters that inform Iraqi people of what passes during negotiations. The members of this team oughtn’t to be chosen from among some few ones who have strong links with Americans and positions similar to those of the American side. Nonetheless, the shortest description for the current team members is that the ideological, belief and social principles of the Iraqi people are not important at all for them; specifically, when the US government has appointedsome hardline figures to its diplomatic team.

6- With regard to the law on the expulsion of foreign forces passed by the parliament, it is absolutely illogical that talks return to a former stage and to the negotiation over the need of the state in thepresence of foreign forces. It is a circumvention ofthe law of Iraq … how can the Iraqi side ask the American one to train Iraqi security forces and defend them though it isn’t capable of defendingits own forces? And how can the team members ask the children of their own country to back occupiers?

6- It is a shame that talks cover some internal issues of Iraq including the projects appertaining to the education of the youth plus Americans’ involvement in the programs beyond family care and government’s supports; such programs don’t fit the identity and customs of the Iraqi society and are possible to push the Iraqi committed society towards destruction.

7- Strangely, the American side is dealing with the topic of arms, government’s exclusive right in this regard, and the Iraqi government’s control of the internal security of the state; although almost all Iraqis approve of the said issues and it is an internal and governmental issue of Iraq. The discussion of such issues in the negotiation with foreign forces raises many questions whose answers aren’t in line with the interests of the state, sovereignty, security and independence of the state.

The intervention of a foreign state in such issues can’t be accepted as they are what the Iraqi people should only decide about.

8- It isn’t logical that the American side makes the Iraqi government chase the forces that stand against occupies and define them as criminals; although the occupiers violate the Iraqi sovereignty both from the air and earth, openly assassin the commanders who have provided the country with victory and freedom, and bombard the bases and forces of the Iraqi Army, the IPMF, Karbala airport and other places.

9- Weakness over the issues connected to the sovereignty, unity and independence of the state against foreigners leads to other countries’ intervention, either neighbours or others.

Turkey’s aggression of Iraqi borders and its violation of the state’s sovereignty is the clearest evidence in this regard. It got to the point where Turkish aggressorstook the control of some cities and parts of Iraq, but the appalling silence and weak positions of the Iraqi side encouraged Turkey to aggressively continue its attacksand those countries claiming to be the friend or supporter of Iraq are silent in this respect.

In this statement, al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance, finally mentions three demands:

1. A parliamentary committee (including figures with patriotic positions) should supervise over the negotiations with the American team and the results of talks; as a duty of the Iraqi parliament, as per the Constitution, is observing such cases. Also, this committee ought to announce the results of the talks to the Iraqi nation and reject whatever against the Constitution or other Iraqi laws.

2. We ask the prime minister, as the commander of the Iraqi armed forces, to adopt some preventive measures against the occupying Turkish forces; so that the Iraqi territorial sovereignty is maintained and wherever is occupied by them is liberated.

3. We call for the facilitation of the execution of the legal act passed by the Iraqi parliament, the start of the expulsion of all forces from Iraq and closing of all foreign forces bases located on the Iraqi borders and requiring all parties, provinces and Kurdistan Region in this regard; as governmental decisions don’t fall into the jurisdiction of a region, and it is a right of the federal government.
