Celebrations to mark Imam Ali’s (as) birth anniv. held in India

Simultaneously with the birthday anniversary of Imam Ali (as), many celebrations were held in different Indian cities, especially in Kolkata, to commemorate this holiday.

Hawzah News Agency (Kolkata, India) – The city of Kolkata is going to host the 5th cultural festival of Imam Ali (as) today, therefore, multiple groups from the Iraqi holy shrines have arrived in the city and have been warmly welcomed by Indian Shia Muslims to join these auspicious ceremonies.

 

The main ceremony to commemorate Imam Ali’s (as) birth anniversary was held in the oldest Hussainiya in Kolkata called Fadh al-Nesa on Tuesday; the cultural festival is also going to take place in the same mosque on Wednesday, April 12.

 

The Iraqi groups from the holy shrines arrived in Kolkata on Tuesday, April 11 only to be received by huge crowds of Shia Muslims in the city. Later, they attended the ceremony whose key note speaker was Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ehsan Jawad, the Prayer leader of the Mosque.

 

During his speech, Hujjat al-Islam Jawad said, “We celebrate this anniversary every year, but this year’s celebration is different in that the service workers of the Shia Imams’ holy shrines in Iraq have joined us here to mark this birthday ceremony.”
