Hawzah News Agency (Accra, Ghana) – During the meeting which was held in the presidential palace in Accra, Dean of Ghana’s Islamic University, a sub-branch of al-Mustafa International University, congratulated Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for being elected as the new vice president of Ghana; He asserted that lack of proper religious education accounts for most problems within Ghanaian Muslim community.
Mohsen Maarefi pointed out that the Ghanaian Islamic University is planning to solve Muslims’ educational problems in Ghana saying, “The Islamic University of Ghana is offering different scholarships to Muslim students, especially the less fortunate, to pave the way for them to continue their education in higher levels.”
The Dean of the university further reported their ongoing activities in the Islamic University reiterating that, “The vast majority of the university’s graduates are serving the Ghanaian society in different areas.”
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president of Ghana, also highlighted the important role of the Islamic University in developing Muslim communities in Ghana adding, “Considering the structural weaknesses that exist within Muslim communities in Ghana, it used to seem unlikely to establish a Muslim-only university in Ghana, but thanks to the efforts of al-Mustafa International University this university has been established to educate Muslim students in Ghana.”
