Hawzah News Agency- The session was held with the aim of examining the cultural, historical, and civilizational dimensions of relations between the two nations of Iran and Iraq, and elucidating Iraq's position within the intellectual framework of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution. A number of Iranian and Iraqi experts expressed their views on shared cultural capacities and ways to strengthen ties between the two nations.
At this conference, Dr. Muhammad al-Sahhaf, head of the Al-Asr Center for Studies and Survey Research, chaired the meeting, while Dr. Sayyid Jabir al-Jabiri, former deputy minister of culture of Iraq, Sayyid Omid Moazzeni, a researcher with the Islamic Revolution Publications, and Dr. Majid al-Shuwaili, a researcher and university professor, delivered their presentations.
The speakers, pointing to the extensive historical, religious, and cultural commonalities between Iran and Iraq, emphasized that in the view of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the relations between the two nations are rooted in deep civilizational ties, and that recognizing these capacities can pave the way for expanded scientific, cultural, and intellectual cooperation between the two countries.
Dr. Jabir al-Jabiri, former deputy minister of culture of Iraq, referring to the place of culture and literature in relations between Iran and Iraq, stated: "In the intellectual framework of the martyred Imam, the bond between the two nations is not limited to formal and political relations; rather, culture, poetry, thought, and prominent scientific and literary figures constitute an important part of this historical connection."
In part of his remarks, he recalled accompanying Muhammad Mahdi al-Jawahiri, the great contemporary Arab poet, on his journey to Iran and his meeting with the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, describing this meeting as an example of the special attention given to the place of culture and literature in relations among nations.
Al-Jabiri, stating that the martyred Leader's knowledge of and attention to Arabic literature and cultural figures of the Islamic world reflects his profound cultural vision, emphasized: "Iran-Iraq relations have a historical and civilizational foundation that must be given greater attention through the strengthening of cultural and scientific ties."
Sayyid Omid Moazzeni, a researcher with the Islamic Revolution Publications, also referring to Iraq's position in the intellectual framework of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, stated: "Iran-Iraq relations cannot be examined solely within the framework of political relations; rather, based on the view of the martyred Leader, these relations have been shaped by history, culture, shared beliefs, and the social interactions of the two nations."
He added: "The martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution believed that recognizing Iraq's cultural capacities and paying attention to the role of the young generation, researchers, and scientific centers can be effective in deepening cultural ties between the two nations. The martyred Leader viewed the relationship between Iraq and Iran as being in line with the realization of the New Islamic Civilization. By virtue of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei's profound knowledge of Iraq's religious and cultural capacities and figures, he regarded Iraq's position as one of the gateways to the New Islamic Civilization."
Moazzeni also emphasized the necessity of gaining a more precise understanding of Iraq's cultural and social currents and noted: "To develop relations between the two nations, one must move beyond superficial perspectives and focus on the shared civilizational capacities of Iran and Iraq."
Dr. Majid al-Shuwaili, a researcher and university professor, also pointing to the religious and cultural commonalities between Iran and Iraq, stated: "The cultural ties between the two nations have deep historical roots, and the presence of holy sites, scientific centers, and shared cultural capacities has provided a suitable foundation for expanding people-to-people connections."
He emphasized: "In the intellectual framework of Martyr Imam Khamenei, attention to shared cultural and civilizational elements can contribute to strengthening scientific and cultural cooperation and fostering mutual understanding between the nations of Iran and Iraq."
During the remainder of the conference, the Iraqi and Iranian attendees and participants also engaged in the discussions, presenting their views and questions on the various dimensions of Iran-Iraq cultural relations within the intellectual framework of the martyred Leader of the Revolution.
