Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Hamid Jalala made these remarks during a ceremony marking the arrival of the year 1448 AH and the inauguration of Muharram mourning gatherings. The event was held on Tuesday in the Kigogo Post area of Dar es Salaam, attended by religious leaders, scholars, and a large congregation of believers.
In his address, Sheikh Jalala reflected on the state of the world over the past year, noting that the globe has witnessed bitter and painful events marked by wars, unrest, and the killing of children, women, and innocent people, particularly in certain countries of the Middle East.
He further expressed hope that diplomatic efforts would yield favorable results, stressing that peace agreements and mutual understanding must be given a chance in order to prevent the continuation of bloodshed and the suffering and affliction of innocent people.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Jalala emphasized that national peace constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of development and social prosperity. He reminded those present that Tanzania has long been recognized as an island of peace on the African continent, and that preserving this cherished heritage is the duty of all citizens.
"Tanzania has always been known for peace and tranquility. We ask God Almighty that this blessing may endure and prevail in the new year and for generations to come," he said.
Sheikh Jalala further called for the strengthening of national unity, asserting that religious differences, ethnic diversity, or divergent viewpoints must never become grounds for division and discord among citizens.
He stressed that all Tanzanians are members of a single nation with a shared destiny, and that it is therefore essential to further reinforce the spirit of solidarity, mutual respect, and cooperation in order to build a society endowed with peace and progress.
The ceremony welcoming the year 1448 AH and inaugurating the Muharram gatherings featured various supplications, religious sermons, and an emphasis on promoting moral values, with participants encouraged to begin the new year by strengthening piety, unity, and service to the community.
