Hawzah News Agency- In a statement, the Association’s members, instructors, and professors blasted the cowardly strikes on national scientific facilities, including Sharif University of Technology and other academic institutions, as a clear act of hostility aimed at halting the scientific progress of the Iranian nation.
“These scientific centers are not mere buildings for lectures—they are the beating heart of knowledge, inspiration, and the upbringing of future generations,” the statement reads. “Many of these capacities, including joint programs with research institutions, were dedicated to introducing children and adolescents to science, technology, and the wonders of the universe.”
Sharif University of Technology, in particular, has played a pivotal role in nurturing the scientific curiosity of young Iranians through academic programs, workshops, and educational events—making it a prime target of the enemy’s malice.
Targeted assassinations of top Iranian scientists
Alongside the physical destruction of infrastructure, IASET also condemned the “cowardly assassination of prominent scholars, scientific figures, and university professors at the hands of craven enemies”—thinkers who devoted their lives to advancing Iran’s scientific development and educating countless students.
“The physical elimination of these scientific figures is not merely an attack on individuals,” the association emphasized. “It is a direct assault on the intellectual capital and the scientific future of the entire nation.”
Children of Minab, cultural institute members among martyrs
In a particularly heart-wrenching section, the statement mourns the loss of several members of the extended family of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, as well as innocent children in Minab, who were killed while playing and living their childhood.
“These beloved, innocent children fell victim to the malice of heartless aggressors, leaving a profound sorrow in the hearts of the Iranian people,” the statement said.
Blatant violation of international law
The Iranian science body stressed that these acts constitute grave breaches of fundamental principles of international law, including the Geneva Conventions and the principle of distinction between military and civilian targets.
“The prohibition against attacking scientific, educational, and civilian institutions has been blatantly disregarded in these assaults,” the statement added.
Defiance in the face of terror
In a tone of unwavering resistance, IASET declared that such atrocities will not halt Iran’s scientific advancement—but will only strengthen the resolve of the country’s scientific community to persevere in the pursuit of knowledge, technological development, and self-reliance.
“History has shown that thought, science, and truth cannot be silenced through threat or terror,” the association affirmed.
Call for international accountability
Expressing deep solidarity with the grieving nation of Iran and the families of the martyrs, IASET called upon the international community, scientific institutions, and global organizations to explicitly condemn these atrocities and pursue legal measures to hold both the perpetrators and instigators accountable.
“We remain steadfast in the belief that the path to Iran’s progress and dignity lies through science, education, research, and the technological cultivation of future generations,” the statement concluded. “The mission of expanding knowledge among the children, adolescents, and youth of this land is one that no threat can impede.”
