The 47th anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution was commemorated in a large-scale ceremony in the city of Sulaymaniyah, drawing prominent political, cultural, religious, and social figures from across the Kurdistan Region.

Hawzah News Agency- The event brought together representatives and dignitaries from the provinces of Erbil, Mosul, Halabja, Kirkuk, and Sulaymaniyah in what participants described as a powerful display of regional solidarity and enduring historical ties between the peoples of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Representatives of major Kurdish political parties—including the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, and the Kurdistan Socialist Party—delivered speeches highlighting the Islamic Revolution’s impact on strengthening Islamic unity and supporting the struggle of regional nations for independence and dignity.

Party representatives laid wreaths in honor of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Ruhollah Khomeini, as well as the martyrs of the Revolution, reaffirming what they described as their respect and appreciation for the Iranian nation.

Speakers from various cities across northern Iraq praised Iran’s historical and cultural stature in the region and called for the expansion of scientific, social, and religious cooperation between seminaries and cultural institutions in Iran and the Kurdistan Region. Several participants underscored the importance of academic exchanges and joint cultural initiatives to further strengthen bilateral relations.

The ceremony was also marked by the presence of representatives from minority communities, including Yazidi, Kaka’i, and Turkmen groups, alongside a number of prominent Kurdish tribal leaders. Their participation was widely viewed as a symbol of inclusivity and coexistence. In their remarks, they described the Islamic Revolution as a movement rooted in values of independence, resistance, and national dignity, emphasizing shared humanitarian principles.

Messages from several Iranian cultural and religious officials were read at the conclusion of the event, reiterating Tehran’s commitment to fostering unity and cooperation with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Participants concluded the ceremony with chants emphasizing unity and solidarity, portraying the gathering as a manifestation of the deep-rooted ties between the Iranian and Iraqi peoples—ties shaped by geography, history, and what speakers described as a common commitment to regional stability and mutual respect.
