Hawzah News Agency- The multi-day event, which opened on Saturday, began with an exhibition of Iranian handicrafts and products, drawing significant interest from Armenian citizens, local business figures, and members of the Iranian community residing in the Syunik Province.
Organized to coincide with the Ten-Day Fajr celebrations marking the 1979 Revolution, the festival served as a showcase of Iran’s rich cultural and artistic heritage, while also highlighting the longstanding ties between the two neighboring nations.
Visitors toured a variety of booths displaying authentic Iranian handicrafts, including traditional kilims and varni weavings, bronze jewelry, Persian food products, and popular Iranian souvenirs. The exhibition provided attendees with an opportunity not only to purchase goods but also to engage directly with Iranian culture and craftsmanship.
From the early hours of the opening day, the consulate’s grounds were filled with an atmosphere of warmth and enthusiasm. Organizers described the strong turnout as a reflection of the deep-rooted historical and cultural bonds linking the peoples of Iran and Armenia.
In addition to the handicrafts fair, the program featured screenings of documentary clips and a photo exhibition highlighting Iran’s achievements in the decades following the Islamic Revolution. The displays focused on developments in science, infrastructure, healthcare, and regional cooperation, offering visitors a broader perspective on the country’s post-revolution progress.
The festival has continued over several days, with expectations of growing attendance as more residents of Kapan and surrounding areas visit the venue.
Officials say hosting such events in Armenia’s Syunik Province represents a constructive step toward strengthening people-to-people diplomacy, expanding economic and cultural cooperation, and presenting what they describe as the realities of Iran’s development since 1979.
The celebration underscored not only the anniversary of a historic political transformation, but also the enduring friendship and mutual respect between Tehran and Yerevan.
