Hawzah News Agency- An international seminar titled “New Interpretive Approaches to Al-Mizan” has been held at Allama Iqbal Open University in Islamabad, bringing together leading scholars and researchers from Pakistan and abroad to examine the methodological foundations of Allamah Seyyed Muhammad Hossein Tabatabaei’s Quranic exegesis.
Organized jointly by Al-Mustafa International University and Allama Iqbal Open University, the event explored the intellectual foundations and contemporary relevance of Tafsir al-Mizan, highlighting its influential role in shaping modern Quranic studies.
Participants delivered specialized analyses on Allamah Tabatabaei’s interpretive methodology, including his rationalist framework, ijtihad-based approach, argumentative reasoning, and the systematic structure that distinguishes Al-Mizan as one of the most comprehensive exegeses of the contemporary era.
Speakers also underscored the significance of the Urdu translation of Tafsir al-Mizan by Hojatoleslam Syed Iftikhar Hossein Naqvi, noting that the work has broadened access for Urdu-speaking scholars and facilitated more extensive research in Quranic interpretation.
The seminar emphasized the need for enhanced academic cooperation, interdisciplinary dialogue, and expanded scholarly initiatives to deepen Quranic understanding and elevate the standards of interpretive research in universities and research centers.
The event concluded with organizers expressing hope that similar international programs would continue to foster emerging scholarly trends in Quranic studies.
