Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Gholam-Ali Safaee-Bushehri made the remarks late Friday at a ceremony marking the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zainab al-Kubra (PBUH) at the Martyrs' Cemetery in Bushehr, where he elaborated on the role of influential figures in the history of divine religions.
The representative of Iran’s Leader in Bushehr province emphasized the historical role of Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) in safeguarding Islam, saying that under the harshest conditions, through steadfastness, enlightenment and clarification of the truth of the Karbala tragedy, she did not allow the uprising of Imam Hussein (PBUH) to be buried in Karbala or the truth of Islam to be lost in the clamor of enemy propaganda.
He said the value of a person's existence depends on the extent of their educational and guiding influence on their surroundings, adding that even if social conditions are unfavorable and the ground is not prepared for activity, a person can influence society through effort and personal growth — clear examples of which can be seen in the history of great and influential women in divine religions.
Hazrat Zainab: A model of influence under the harshest conditions
The representative of the Leader in Bushehr province referred to the status of Hazrat Asiya (PBUH), Hazrat Maryam (PBUH), Hazrat Khadija (PBUH), Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) and Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) in the history of Islam and divine religions, stating that these figures pursued the path of faith and guidance in difficult environments sometimes filled with pressure and deviation, and left their mark on history through their role-playing.
Hojatoleslam Safaee-Bushehri cited the example of Pharaoh's wife as a model for believers in the Holy Quran, saying Hazrat Asiya preserved her faith within Pharaoh's court despite the pressures and crimes prevailing in that society and became an enduring model for faithful people — demonstrating that an unfavorable environment is not a definitive obstacle to human influence.
He also referred to the status of Hazrat Maryam (PBUH) and Hazrat Khadija (PBUH), noting that Hazrat Maryam became the mother of Jesus (PBUH) through her devotion and divine piety, while Hazrat Khadija played a fundamental role in consolidating and spreading Islam through her financial and personal support for the Prophet of Islam (PBUH).
Hazrat Fatima Zahra: Divine proof and model of steadfastness
The representative of the Leader in Bushehr province referred to the role of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) during the lifetime of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) and after his passing, saying she supported the Prophet and the path of Islam under difficult conditions and, after his passing, took on an important role in guiding society through her stances and enlightenment.
Safaee-Bushehri, recalling the status of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) in the teachings of the Ahlul Bayt (PBUH), added that her status is such that in narrations, her satisfaction and anger are linked to divine satisfaction and anger — a matter that expresses her spiritual greatness and central role in the history of Islam.
Describing the conditions during the Umayyad rule, he said that with Yazid's rise to power, Islamic values and teachings faced a serious threat, and the behavior and approach of the rulers of the time paved the way for a return of the culture of ignorance. It was under such circumstances that the uprising of Imam Hussein (PBUH) took shape to revive the religion and confront deviation.
The representative of the Leader in Bushehr province referred to the events following the Ashura tragedy, saying that after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his companions, Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) endured the grief of losing her loved ones while bearing the responsibility of safeguarding the message of Ashura — and she fulfilled this historic responsibility through patience, perseverance and her power of expression.
Safaee-Bushehri referred to Hazrat Zainab's sermons in Kufa and Damascus, saying that through her enlightening words she drew public opinion to the truth of the Karbala crime and challenged the propaganda of the Umayyad apparatus. Her words were so influential that they changed the atmosphere of society and put the rulers of the time on the defensive.
He continued that Hazrat Zainab (PBUH), by exposing the nature of Umayyad rule and defending the ideals of Imam Hussein (PBUH), did not allow the enemies to portray the Prophet's family as a foreign group or to erase the truth of the Ashura uprising from the historical memory of society.
The endurance of Ashura's message in light of Hazrat Zainab's clarification
The representative of the Leader in Bushehr province emphasized that the endurance of Ashura's message is owed to Hazrat Zainab's role, noting that had she not engaged in enlightenment and clarification after the Karbala tragedy, the Umayyad propaganda apparatus could have imposed its narrative on society and marginalized the truth of Imam Hussein's uprising.
Safaee-Bushehri referred to verse 24 of Surah Ibrahim about the "goodly word" and its comparison to a pure tree with firm roots and lofty branches, saying that divine figures and pure-hearted individuals are like a goodly tree whose effects and blessings expand over time, with different generations benefiting from their fruits.
He added that many Husseini and Zainabi gatherings, cultural and literary works, and various manifestations of honoring Ashura are among the blessings of Hazrat Zainab's struggle and enlightenment — a lady who was able to keep the message of pure Islam and the uprising of Imam Hussein (PBUH) alive throughout history.
In conclusion, the representative of the Leader in Bushehr province emphasized the necessity of taking inspiration from the great figures of Islamic history, noting that every person must influence the path of guidance, education and reform of society to the best of their ability and know that even under the most difficult conditions, one can affect the course of history through faith, perseverance and clarification of the truth.
