How to Be Among the Best of People?

Hawzah News Agency- Muhammad ibn Ali Majiluyih narrated that his uncle Muhammad ibn Abil-Qasim narrated from Ahmad ibn Aba Abdullah, from Al-Abbas ibn Ma’ruf, from Abi Shoayb who linked it up to Imam Sadiq (pbuh) who said:

أَوْرَعُ النَّاسِ مَنْ وَقَفَ عِندَ الشُّبْهَةِ،
وَأَعْبَدُ النَّاسِ مَنْ أَقَامَ الفَرَائِضَ،
وَأَزْهَدُ النَّاسِ مَنْ تَرَكَ الحَرَامَ،
وَأَشَدُّ النَّاسِ اجْتِهَادًا مَنْ تَرَكَ الذُّنُوبَ.

The most pious of people is the one who stops at what is doubtful.
The most devout of people is the one who fulfills the obligations.
The most ascetic of people is the one who avoids the forbidden.
And the most diligent of people is the one who abandons sins.
