Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday at the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) World Assembly in Qom, held under the theme “The Position of the Media on the Resistance Front,” al-Abadi highlighted the role of journalists in reflecting the sacrifices of resistance fighters. He recalled that during battles such as Tal Abu Jarad, where ISIS launched daily attacks with suicide vehicles, media coverage ensured the struggles of the brigades were not forgotten.
Al-Abadi pointed to the support efforts during the 12-day war of the Zionist regime, saying a convoy organized in Tehran was targeted by a drone strike, and that the martyrdom of Sayyid Haidar al-Moussawi on Iranian soil was a continuation of the sacrifices made by Martyr General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq.
He said the US designation of Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada as a terrorist organization was directly linked to its unwavering support for the Islamic Republic of Iran and its role in defending the Palestinian cause. He added that the brigades were also behind operations targeting the Zionist regime’s ports and airports, which disrupted Israeli infrastructure.
Regarding the timing of the sanctions, al-Abadi linked them to Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections, noting that the brigades are influential political actors through their participation in the Coordination Framework.
Warning of Israeli threats against Iraq, he stressed: “If Iraq is targeted by the Zionist regime, all those in the US embassy in Baghdad will also be among our targets. We are not afraid of their threats.”
Concluding his remarks, al-Abadi emphasized the readiness of the group’s Iran office to cooperate with journalists, saying: “Our hands are open for media cooperation, and we will always stand by you to strengthen the resistance front.”
