Hawzah News Agency- In an exclusive interview in Sari, Hujjat al-Islam Pishnamazi began by referencing the Quranic verse, “And grant victory to those who support Allah,” emphasizing that Iran, through reliance on divine strength, resisted the aggressive and unlawful war initiated by the U.S. and Israel, and emerged from it with dignity and resilience.
“This latest aggression, which openly violated international law and threatened global peace, has also presented Iran with a chance to reassess its nuclear policies,” he said.
Strategic Response to Hostile Acts
Commenting on Tehran’s suspension of cooperation with the IAEA, Pishnamazi called the move a necessary legal and strategic measure, designed to prevent espionage and foreign infiltration aimed at identifying and exploiting Iran’s vulnerabilities.
“This decision must be implemented decisively and without hesitation,” he said. “It’s not just a political stance; it’s a defense necessity.”
Pishnamazi called for accelerating the development of Iran’s nuclear capabilities to meet national needs and enhance deterrence power. “Thanks to the wisdom of national authorities and decisions by the Assembly, this path has already begun and must now be pursued with unwavering seriousness,” he noted.
Deception in Diplomacy and the Need for Unity
He criticized what he described as deceptive enemy tactics, stating, “The attack occurred while Iran was engaged in negotiations. This bitter experience must serve as a warning — deterrence, not dialogue, prevents repeat offenses.”
The cleric warned of the human and financial costs of such aggression, citing the martyrdom of military commanders, scientists, and civilians. “A weak or symbolic response will only embolden the enemy. A strong and credible deterrent is essential.”
He also urged internal unity, warning against divergent views among officials regarding negotiations. “Division sends mixed signals to our enemies, encouraging them to escalate their threats. Unity in policy is critical to national security.”
Nuclear Capability and National Defense
Pishnamazi called for Iran to increase uranium enrichment to 90 percent to support both defense objectives and peaceful technological pursuits, such as powering ocean-going vessels and advancing space research. “Achieving superior nuclear capabilities will strengthen our national position, help lift sanctions, and ultimately lead to a more secure and lasting peace.”
He also stressed the need for increased security at nuclear facilities to prevent sabotage or espionage, and proposed defensive measures to be ready for future threats.
Legal and Regional Measures
Criticizing the inaction of international institutions, he proposed convening a court in absentia to prosecute the aggressors. He also suggested inspecting cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz and collecting reparations from assets linked to hostile nations. “Such actions will increase Iran’s leverage while sending a powerful message of deterrence.”
Final Call: Jihad of Explanation
In closing, Hojjatoleslam Pishnamazi called for public awareness campaigns in line with the Supreme Leader’s emphasis on the “Jihad of Explanation.”
“We must clarify the country’s defensive strategies to the public. The martyrs, including General Qassem Soleimani, safeguarded our nation from the flames of war. Their path must be explained and upheld with pride and clarity.”
