Hawzah News Agency- after the proposal presented by Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, president of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi appointed Nazir Ayyad as the new mufti of this country for four years.
Nazir Ayyad has authored more than 30 books in the fields of theology, philosophy, logic, sects and religions, Sufism and some other sciences.
Nazir Ayyad has succeeded Grand Mufti Shawky Allam, who has been the mufti of Egypt since March 2013.
Ayyad is a Philosophy of Religions and Doctrines professor and vice-president of the Islamic and Arabic studies faculty in Kafr El Sheikh, according to the Islamic Research Academy's official website.
In 1995, he obtained a BA at Fundamentals of Religion in Doctrine and Philosophy, then a Master's degree in Fundamentals of Religion, specializing in Doctrine and Philosophy in 2000, then a PhD in 2003.
He also was a lecturer at several Islamic universities in Libya and Saudi Arabia.
According to Egyptian law, the appointment of the country's mufti is made by the presidency after presenting an option proposed by Sheikh of Al-Azhar.
