Hawzah News Agency- the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Vatican issued a statement condemning the insult to the Prophet of God Jesus Christ at the opening of Paris Olympic Games.
The text of the statement is as follows:
In the last week, the world once again witnessed a heinous and unforgivable act against one of the most holy figures in the history of religions. The Olympic Square, which according to its philosophy, should be the epitome and axis of solidarity and unity of human beings and a friendly competitive arena, this time in Paris became a place to show the great separation between monotheists and followers of Satanism.
Those who are always concerned about the increasing role of religion in the personal, social and political affairs have tried to block the way to the expansion of the religious front of believers and monotheists in the world by mocking the sanctities of religions and especially insulting the authority of divine prophets. What happened at the opening of the Paris Olympics is based on the conspiracy that sees the closeness of believers to divine religions as an increasing danger for themselves, and therefore the desecration of the religious sanctities, especially of Islam and Christianity - previously in the fields of art and this time in sports field manifestations of such plots.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the insult to the Last Supper painting of Jesus Christ, which is undoubtedly etched in the hearts and minds of billions of Christians around the world, and calls upon all Christians, liberals, religious people, and religious leaders around the world, as well as the ambassadors of countries in the Holy See, to take a clear position in condemning this heinous act and demand the politicians of the world, especially the French government, to punish the designers of such audacity.
