Hawzah News Agency- Simultaneously with the holy month of Ramadan, a magnificent banquet was held in the capital city of Ivory Coast with the presence of officials and religious leaders, ambassadors, executive directors and heads of institutions, hosted by Sheikh Ima Othman Diakite and a group of representatives of the Islamic Assembly of Ivory Coast known as COSIM.
Sheikh Othman Diakite, one of the senior scholars of the Tijaniyyah sect who is also the head of the Islamic Assembly of this country, welcomed the guests for their presence in the gathering and expressed the purpose of this banquet as brotherhood, friendship and closeness of Muslims and emphasized the need for unity and solidarity between Islamic religions in Ivory Coast. He also emphasized the need to expand inter-religious dialogue in order to establish relations among Muslims from different sects and religions.
The Islamic Assembly of Ivory Coast also presented a report on the achievements of this organization to the present guests.
In addition, Musa Sanogo, Minister of Heritage and Culture of Ivory Coast, on behalf of the government, thanked the Islamic Assembly of Ivory Coast for preparing this gathering and added that the Islamic Assembly's actions are an effective and progressive step in the direction of peace, cohesion and solidarity among the different religions and sects in Ivory Coast.
It should be noted that the country of Ivory Coast is located in the western region of Africa, where more than thirty percent of its population are Muslims, mainly of the Tijani sect.
