Question: In view of what is said about God’s mercy, what is the limit of this forgiveness? If we commit a sin and then repent does he overlook it completely or give a relief in punishment on the Day of Judgment? In other words does repentance eliminate all the effects of sin or does it only reduces them?

Answer: If the repentance in question is true in its spirit, with all its conditions fulfilled, He accepts it. However, if the sin involves the rights of other people, it is necessary to give such usurped rights back to those they truly belong to and to obtain the consent of the bereaved party.
